We previously notified you when the Department of Labor (DOL) proposed a 7-day safe harbor for mailing in employee deferrals and loan payments (see article dated 3/14/08). The DOL finalized these regulations on January 14, 2010. Effective on that date, employee contributions (deferrals and loan payments) will be considered timely if the amounts are deposited into the plan within 7 business days following pay date.
